Red slate is among the rarest colors to obtain, and this particular piece was hand selected from a Vermont quarry to capture Mark’s free spirit. Its natural cleft and “live edge” create shifting shadows and a rugged silhouette that feels alive and untamed.

The lettering pairs traditional brushed Roman capitals with an avant-garde script, inspired by Tom Waits albums and David Lynch paintings.

Look closely and you’ll notice that each letter was carefully painted with a broken brushstroke, further echoing the rustic and weathered character of this memorial.
